Life Gets In The Way

Life isn't always pretty and organized, nor are people.
We make mistakes (hopefully learn from them) and struggle, but in the end it all works out!

Crap happens! It is life! I know this, but do I really have to accept it; all the time? I guess I do, but I sure as hell don't want to.

In the last two weeks:  My car failed inspection, I needed to pay for my personal property tax (on our cars), but until we can (over $400), my vehicle plates are dead. We found out the owner of our house is going to sell and I NEED a job. Instead of being a work at home mom, I need to find a job outside of my home this summer ( I pray someone is hiring).

I will say, we should have tried to pay gradually on the car taxes over the year but when you are having to juggle just to pay simple bills like power, rent, gas for working (hubby has to drive 2 hrs to work), etc, the personal property tax just doesn't enter your brain.

House: The owner decided to sell the house only after they found out they have A LOT of repairs because the property manager failed to do the yearly inspections that were required. We have been telling them on and off all the repairs that needed to be done (even wrote it all out so they had a list), yet nothing was done.

We are currently house hunting thanks to a contact my husband was able to make through his boss.  Use your network (family, friends, co-workers), you never know what information you may gain.

Car
My car needed rear brakes and a tie rod end, for those that know about cars. We didn't have the money at the time, so we had to bring it home, failed. The shop wanted to charge us between $300 and $400. What a rip off.

I had to ride around with a failed inspection sticker (only a few times) praying I didn't get a ticket. Although, I did tell myself; what is the worst that could happen? I would get a ticket, right? I just didn't want the hassle.

The brakes and tie rod end weren't so bad that it would cause a safety issue; yet, but I still did not want to drive it until the car was fixed (but as I said, I had to a few times, no choice).

I went this past Friday, purchased the rear brake pads and tie rod end along with renting the tool my hubby needed. Parts and tax: $75 I started in on the brakes Friday afternoon, had one side almost completely finished when hubby showed up from work.

He finished the side I started and the other side in less than 30 minutes. At most, with using manual tools (not the air/hydraulic tools the shop has), 30 minutes total for both sides to be complete. Yet, the auto shop wanted to charge almost $200 for my brake job.

Next, tie rod end. He was able to get to that Sunday morning; Saturday was crazy and he couldn't fit it in and he was finished before 11AM.

I swear, I do not even think it took him 30 minutes to complete that job and that  included taking off the front tire (manually, no impact wrench). The tie rod cost $18, renting the tool $15 (we got that money back when we turned to the tool back in) and 30 minutes at most of labor.

Was that really worth the almost $150 they were gong to charge us?

Car conclusion (warning about to type words I do not normally type): We saved a SHIT LOAD, I mean a SHIT LOAD of money taking an hour total of our time. Now I know not all vehicle repairs are that simple, but really; do they NEED to charge triple what it cost us? That is just going to far!

Still working on the personal property tax bill and job hunting!

*I did wonder as I wrote this whether anyone really wants to know such personal money issues, but you know; sometimes you just have to vent.  This isn't whining about how bad my life is, because I know I am truly blessed.  I have beautiful children, a caring, loving husband (with a good job), a roof over my head...you get my drift.  Sometimes life throws us curve balls we are not sure we can hit, much less get a home run from; so thanks for reading/listening!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving

I cannot believe this year has passed (it seems) so quickly. I really think the end of the year arrives well before I am ready; well are we ever ready?

I am officially back. After months of sporadic posting and nothing much to say (so I thought), I have decided to pick my blogging back up. It probably helps that I am not really working much right now and any small change I can pick up will help.

The best thing about blogs, they just keep going

I have had difficulty even getting a retail job, now that is sad. Not sure if it is just because there are so many applicants, too few positions or if since I am older (wow almost 40...hehe) and they want younger. Whatever the reason, Kohls, CVS, Walmart, Kmart, Old Navy...etc., do not seem to want this woman who is willing work her tail off to make some extra money for her family.

Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I do know that no matter my money making situation, I am very blessed and so much more than many others out there.

Take care!

Nothing New....Yet!

Per my last post about all these wacked out symptoms, nothing to report as of yet.  It is rather disappointing, but hey, what can I do.

Not much!

I thankfully have not had the dizzy spells or headaches as of late.  I still get the tremors occasionally, but I am learning to deal with them.  Thanks for all of the comments and concerns.

I'm Back, Did You Miss Me?

Probably not, right?  Wishful thinking on my part I am sure!

While I may not have been missed, I can say I have missed you guys/gals.  This summer has been very hectic and not too conducive to blogging. I have had computer crashes, vacation interruptions, my 12 year old daughter Lo had foot surgery and well, just life in general; right?

Many people have more going on than me, yet I can't seem to get it all together.  That is because I have been too freaking tired.  I am also knitting a baby blanket for a friend who is due October 31, 2008.  Yes, you read that correctly, Halloween!  I need to have the blanket finished in the next couple of weeks though if I do not want to have to ship it; so, I guess blogging has just not been that important.

Thanks for remaining loyal and I will be posting more soon; I promise!

Neglect

As you can see I have been extremely neglectful of my blog and posting. I think my blog and the few that read it will most likely burn me at the stake or something equally terrorizing.

My part-time business as turned into a full-time business which is great; but leaves little time for much else. I actually work a normal work day plus a few extra hours in the evening or middle of the night...if needed. It is great for money, but not great for the social, love or family life. But hey, at least business is booming!!! I am very thankful for that!

My husband goes into surgery for a hernia Wednesday the ninth. I really feel for him! Poor guy can't even enjoy a good "romp in the hay" at the moment because of the pain he experiences in the "family jewel" region. Guys, if you have ever experienced a hernia; I am sorry. Women, if you had to deal with a man with a hernia...I am equally sorry. Do you guys know what it is like for a woman who is very sexual to have to forgo this pleasure just because you have some "pressure" or "pain" in the groin! I mean really. Can't you just "pump" through the pain? LOL

Seriously, I understand; but why does my libido have to kick into over-drive when I can't get any? All I am saying is....I THINK I NEED A NEW TOY!!!! ;)

I like this headline: "Is Britney A Lip-Syncher?"

Well, duh! Has she ever NOT been lip-synching? Geesh, what do these people think? She can actually sing?

Brain Drain....

So I recently went to this site bobbarama and laughed my head off. Now, now D23 don't be getting jealous; you are my "first"!

All kidding aside, I realized that I am just not writing enough about the humorous happenings in my life. I usually just post about what interests me that day, which is fine; but so much goes on in life that you just have to laugh at; why shouldn't I share. Well, I guess it is because by the time I actually have the ability to sit down and write about it, it has left my wee little mommy drained brain. Yes, I know that was redundant, but hey, it is the truth. How much brain power do I really have left at the end of the day to write about all the funnies of life? Not much, but I think I need to start making more of a concerted effort. What do you think?

I like perusing the news and trying to find all the "crazy" crap happening in the world. It is amazing how freaking ridiculous us humans really are. What's funnier is when it is happening to someone else and I am not the one acting like a complete idiot. Which, on those rare occasions, does happen.

I need some motivation today people. I need to clean up my house; which I let slide all week. Of course on the precept that I was actually working (well I did work all week, but not so much that I couldn't do my "womanly" duties--barfs profusely); when in reality I just didn't feel like lifting a finger to make my house look oh so pretty for five minutes and watch my family turn my beautiful, picture perfect home into a pig sty faster than the speed of light.

Off to cleaning I go! Wish me luck that I am able to return with some insanity left to dish out!
